Pros and cons of Starmap app for iPhone and iPad

Starmap app good for

Awesome!! really cool!! I would like to update to the pro version And I thing it would be really cool if you could just have an in app purchas for the differnce between the two so i wouldnt have to pay fir the features I already have! Thanks
I purchased this last night and I was eager to try it. On a semi cloudy night with a bright jupiter I was able to orientate the Starmap to the sky and I was able to many other planets and galaxies! I wish I had a 3g phone for the GPS function. I wish apple would provide a gps module for the older phone. I suggest maybe a compass to use this program best if you cannot find anything to orientate the map to. The panning works well. The map is a little laggy when you move with your finger but I am sure this will be fixed soon. I have had a telescope for about a year now and this is one of the best tools I have found so far.
Ive had my telescope for about two months and have been interested in looking up into the night sky for a while longer. This app has soooo much more to offer than many of the other apps in the app store. In fact this app reminds me of a program Id have on my MacBook. It has an incredible amount of useful features that Im still finding that make locating celestial objects easy as pie. I am looking forward to my first messier marathon and I know this app will make it much easier. One complaint about this app tho.. My neck is sore from constantly looking up =P
I was hesitant at buying Starmap because of the price, especially with other star programs out there that are less expensive. After having it and using it for almost a year, Ive got to say its still my favorite app by far. I still find myself sitting outside at night looking at the sky and using Starmap to locate stars and constellations. Its very user-friendly and although there are so many ways to personalize the settings (which is fun, too), its just as easy to download it and use the default settings. Youll never get tired of it, and neither will the friends you show it to!
Im a novice star gazer but I wanted to write this review mainly for the quick assistance that Frederic (the developer) gave me. The app. is very easy to navigate, but as I said the help which I received was exceptional. No sooner than I sent an email for support that I received a response. He even offered to help with an issue that was totally unrelated to his app. I was having update problems and he offered his assistance. In the future I will check out any app that this gentleman is associated with.
This app is so much fun and very easy to use. There is an easy to follow star map + options to identify planets, stars and constellations. A glass of wine, a starry night and this app is all you need.

Some bad moments

The newest version is not functional. It goes into an endless loop in the Loading Objects start-up...
After upgrading to iOS4 for the ipod touch, it will not re-load on the ipod. It used to be a fantastic app. Now I cant even use it.
After update does not work, endless loading but never loads!!! Get it right!!or do not put it out....
No instructions on how to use it. The list of cities doesnt contain any close to mine. And, for future reference, the two Portlands in the US are NOWHERE near each other, so it might be nice to list which is which. $4.99 is a lot to pay for a whole lotta nothing.
After upgrade to iOS 7 apps crashes or freezes to the point that it crashed my iPhone. No upgrades. Makes it useless to me.
Unless you buy the PRO version you will only access a ridiculously low amount of objects. At the same or lower price than the standard version you can afford better designed Apps containing extended catalogues such as Star Walk, Star Chart, Skykey to mention some.
